There are also some great grocers in the area, with seafood variety in particular that you can't find anywhere else in town. Freida is the name of the bakery ( I think). There is a bakery and a BBQ in the mall on Wentworth. Our price was $40 for two, and we ate like kings. The waiters mark everything you take on your ticket, and you pay up front on the way out. If the lady with the seafood soup taps you on the shoulder and says "I think you should try this" take her up on the offer. The Ha Gow (schrimp in a rice noodle shell that looks like a clove of garlic) was magnificent. If you don't pace yourself, you won't last! I was there for over an hour, and don't recall seeing any item a second time in that span. Take a look, and if it doesn't strike your fancy-pass. Hint number one-you don't have to take one of everything that passes. Carts loaded down with baskets from the kitchen circulate around the room. The room seats maybe 200, and is a whirl of activity. There is pay parking right next to the El station, and if you validate your card at Phoenix, you get a sticker that cuts the price to $1.50.ĭining room is on the 2nd floor, but is handicapped accessable by a small elevator. You can get there on the El via the red line to 22nd/Cermak/chinatown. ![]() Try to get in before 11AM, as the line is out the door any later. Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I figured that a short trip report might be useful.īrunch in Chinatown is a huge treat, and Dim Sum at Phoenix is about as good as it gets.
